Statistical communications and information theory with applications in investigation of different types of digital communication systems.

 

Wireless communications: Characterization and modeling of wireless communication channels. Relaying technology. Cooperative networks. Diversity reception. Influence of receiver imperfections on signal detection in diversity systems. Application of error correction codes in combination with diversity reception.

 

Free space optical communication systems: Application of different modulation techniques and error correction codes. Hybrid RF/FSO and mixed RF/FSO systems. Determination of bit error rate, capacity and outage probability.

 

Satellite communications: Fixed and mobile services. Influence of co-channel interferences, imperfect reference signal recovery, high power amplifier nonlinearities on digital signal transmission over satellite channels. Application of error correction codes in satellite systems. Mixed satellite RF/FSO systems.

 

Coherent and IM/DD optical fibre communication systems: Error correction coding and signal detection.
